Nearly 25,000 Lost Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Approximately 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland found themselves without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing wind gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Broad Destruction
Residents reported large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by significant hail.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the extensive power failures.
Victoria's Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 residents in the southern state also encountered power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams responded to 598 calls for help across the area, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

- Wyndham region - nearly 180 help reports
At one point on yesterday, more than twenty-eight thousand energy customers in Victoria were without power.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were expected to linger along large portions of Queensland's east this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both states.
Medical Alert
Health officials warned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to major medical consequences in the state.
